My journey
to Holland for study has been quit revealing and interesting.
Before I set out
for the tour, I thought that at last I would have the opportunity of relating
with the people that brought Christianity to my country.
This thinking was
informed by my perception that these missionary priests most of them are Dutch and here I am in their country.
One week
after landing the Dutch land, on the Sunday morning I went in the Bussum Street
in order to search church for worship, after walking for about one and half
kilometers I found one good building looking as church because of cross fixed
at its roof. I was too sure I have found a place of worship.
I decided to
walk up to the building closely. Surprisingly the people I met coming out of
the massive structure did not appear to me as worshippers.
While a man came
with a dog in his hands, the other old woman that followed him was carrying domestic
materials. This naturally fired my curiosity to know more about this building.
I decided to
ask about what time the mass is going to take off, the answer comes with
question “which church, this is not church young man, this is an apartments
where people lives, sorry for that
After the
very short and clear answer from the people who I discover that is among of
church building renters; I have shocked to see that while Africa we are making
fundraising every day to contribute money for built new churches after old one
being full, in Europe they are renting and changing usage of church to become
an apartment
The Christian church in Africa
The history
of Christianity in Africa began during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ,
two thousand years ago.
The New Testament of the Bible mentions several events
in which Africans were witnesses to the life of Christ and the ministry of the
apostles.
